Special Session on
Artificial Intelligence in Software Testing, Quality and Reliability
at
The 5th Indian International Conference on Artificial Intelligence
(IICAI-11)

December 14-16, 2011, Tumkur (near Bangalore), India

A Special Session on Artificial Intelligence in Software Testing, Quality and Reliability will be held during the 5th Indian International Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IICAI-11).

Software testing is the process of validation and verification of the software product. Effective software testing will contribute to the delivery of reliable and quality oriented software product, more satisfied users, lower maintenance cost, and more accurate and reliable results. However, ineffective testing will lead to the opposite results, low quality products, unhappy users, increased maintenance costs, unreliable and inaccurate results. Hence, software testing is necessary and it is an important activity of software development process. The importance of testing can be understood by the fact that “around 35% of the elapsed time and over 50% of the total cost are expending in testing programs”. To optimize resources in the area of software testing, quality and reliability, a cademicians and researchers are using Artificial Intelligence (AI) approaches for better accuracy. The application of AI techniques in Software Engineering (SE) is an emerging area of research. Researchers use Ant Colony Optimization (ACO), Genetic Algorithm (GA), Tabu search (TB), Bee Colonoy, Fuzzy Approach, Data mining Concept and many more AI techniques. These terminologies are known as metaheuristic approaches and these approaches are being used in various processes of the software testing, quality and reliability like test sequence generation, automation of testing, quantification of quality, checking reliability of the system, etc. The purpose of this special session is to capture theoretical foundations, infrastructure, enabling technologies and emerging applications in the use of AI to SE.

Topics include, but are not limited to, the following SE areas and contains AI in it:

  • Software testing
  • Object oriented software testing
  • Agent oriented software testing
  • Software testing effort
  • Software testing method
  • Regular expression
  • Use of artificial intelligence over software testing

Paper Submission and Publication:
Authors are encouraged to submit the papers for this session as an email attachment to the corresponding Session Co-Chair given below. The papers should be in MSWORD, PDF, or PS format and should be formatted according to the Springer Lecture Notes instructions (click here for instructions/sample paper). The length of a paper should not exceed 20 pages. Shorter papers or papers on the work currently in progress are also welcome. The first page of the paper should contain the title, name(s) of the authors, affiliations, the postal and email addresses, and at least 3 keywords appropriate to the content of the paper. Further information regarding the paper submission can be obtained from the conference website too.

Each paper will be peer reviewed by at least two experts in the topical area. All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings, under the title of the session.

You may contact the conference chairs at   iicai.conference[at]gmail.com for any additional information.
